Quarter 1 Week 12 Update: A Rest is as Good as a Rest

Hello and welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, where this week, very few backlogs were hammered. Hammer the Backlog is the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog where I try to paint all of my minis before I do myself enough physical harm that I am no longer able to. Because I am middle aged and active, not because I’m self harming, but thanks for checking.

A little bit of red in the ledger this week with no minis painted. A few reasons. Obviously with the quarter’s targets done, that took some of the pressure off. And pressure is really what gets me cooking. Like a dutch oven.

Secondly, I spend most of the week working on the end of quarter video.

Thirdly, I managed to give myself a nice dose of the old man complaint, sciatica. Which means it’s hard to sit still for more than about 15 minutes. And since my job mostly involves sitting still these days, more sitting still at the end of the day was not on the cards.

Fourthly, and finally, I spent most of the time I had this week mucking about. Assuming that it will be either Death Guard or Primaris marines next quarter, and not having decided on a paint scheme for either, I spent a bit of time messing about with recipes and techniques by practicising them on spare or older models.

This takes some of the pressure off of trying to work on a paint scheme while also having a deadline, so it should pay off in the long run.

In an ideal world I would have liked to get five more 4th edition elves painted too, but the gods of sore buttocks had other ideas.

Jim, on the other hand, may BE a pain in the ass, but he doesn’t have one. So the hammering of the frontlog continued apace.

He got the inquisitor and trajan painted up this week. Trajan is particularly impressive for someone who has been painting for a little over two months, with no previous artistic experience.

Well, that’s it for a short update. I’m off to stretch, as typing this up used up my sitting down allocation.

Best eggs!
