Hello and welcome back! It’s Hammering time! Look, I’m trying to build up a head of energy and excitement before we take a look at the fourth and penultimate high detailed and intricate Dragon Price model from this quarter’s showcase unit.
Hammer the Backlog is the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog, where I try to get more that 30 years worth of collected models from dusty old boxes to painted, photographed and shared online. Each week I take a look at the project scorecard, the progress on the quarterly targets and this week’s five Hammer the Backlog points worth of painted models. So let’s do that!
SCORECARD

I continue to (possibly) do myself a bit of a disservice this week by counting the highly intricate, mounted, character level Dragon Prices as just 3 points. I’m a bit torn by this. I mean, on a clear week with few other commitments I probably could get one of these and two simple models on foot painted. But definitely not one of these and two seaguard, who already stretch the credibility of being 1 point models in the Hammer the Backlog system.
Maybe next week I could paint a dragon prince and two mono pose plastic wood elves from the 90s. That would make five, technically. But am I just fooling myself?
Not much else to report this week, other than the fact that as year 5 rapidly approaches I’m getting more and more excited about the possibilities, and might even end up with as many as 8 potential trays to work with next year!
THIS WEEK’S MODEL

Another busy week on the road this week has left me mostly snatching hours here and there to get this guy done. At the time of writing he’s only about 80% done, and I will be out with my lovely lady wife for anniversary dinner during the usual couple of hours I use to finish up the model, write the blog and get everything photographed. So I’m hoping he turned out ok.

I suppose, technically, he is a rank and file model. So if he is a notch rougher than the command models, that’s fine. We’re not doing ‘eavy metal box art here.

I think this scheme, dark green head and dark red body, is my favourite of the four I’ve done so far. Back in fourth and fifth edition GW seemed to change between these being fairly uniform in their colour placement, and between them each being individuals.

I think they are going to look smashing as a full unit of 5 next week, and it will feel great to have them done after all these years!

Well lookit, slightly shorter one this week, but thanks for reading it all anyway. See you next week for the final Prince, and maybe a couple of Wood Elves!

Best of eggs!
