Welcome back to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. After last week’s hectic week of social media events, model donations and over ambitious target setting, absolutely nothing interesting has happened this week. Now, I know regular readers are thinking “He’s setting us up. Getting us to let our guards down for a big reveal. He is so sneaky and unusually sexy.”
But no, it’s true, a week with almost nothing to report!
Let’s take a look at the scorecard and this week’s models.
SCORECARD

As I said, all in the green again this week. Really, nothing really to report. I did the first half of this week’s models last week, so this week I only had a few layers to add to get everything done.
That leaves me with 2 genestealers, 2 genestealer familiars, 3 hybrids, a Magos and a Primus left to paint. I’m a little unsure how to tackle these. I planned to do the 2 genestealers and the 3 remaining acolytes in a single week, followed by one each of the character models and a familiar each.
But that is starting to feel a little inefficient. I think 3 hybrids together, 2 genestealers and 2 familiars together and the two leaders together actually makes the most sense now, keeping models with similar colour schemes together and dividing the work out evenly.
The only issue with this may be that I only get to dedicate two and a half Hammer the Backlog points to each of the leader models, potentially leaving them a bit underserved? But, I suppose that is roughly how much effort each of the Marines got, so there would be some parity?
THIS WEEK’S MODELS

The last two aberrants finished this week. These are really fun models in the way they are put together. There are two identical bodies and two identical sets of arms, but in four different combinations they look very different despite that.

As with all of the cults, I decided to do slightly different skin tones on each of them. So, when compared with last week you can see a progression from lightest to darkest skinned, with the amount of purple increased and the coverage of white decreased.

Not much else to say, other than I think we have reached critical mass on the photo set up!

We really are within spitting distance of the end of year 3 now!
Time to start picking out potential year four projects? Anything you would like to see for year 4?
Thanks for reading this fairly brief update!
Best of eggs!
