Quarter 4 Week 5 Update: Time Goes By, So Slowly (Except When it Doesn’t)

Hello and welcome to Hammer the Backlog, the weekly Warhammer mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. You’ll excuse a slightly truncated blog this week as, unfortunately, time kind of got the better of me this week. I am typing this up much later than usual, at about 9pm on Thursday evening. Let’s take a look at the scorecard, this week’s models, and have a little complaint about this getting slightly away from me this week.

So, despite the fact that everything somehow got away from me this week, everything stays in the green. As I’m sitting here typing this up, I’m working why it came down to such a squeeze this week? The models are practically the same as last week’s models, and there were no major issues stopping progress. Maybe it was just that I was a little more excited by the models last week, and therefore painted them up a bit faster?

I definitely left too much to do for Thursday this week, and if there is one thing I have now learned it is that I hate painting to a strict deadline. Having to get the skin, bases, metals and details painted on five complex models and get the blog written up meant that I had to cut a few more corners than I am happy with.

Having said all of that, at about 50% of the quarter done, the largest part of the box set is now done!

So, another five hybrid acolytes are done. 5 great models, no doubt in the world. I think I have let them down slightly by not leaving enough time for their skin. The transitions are a little rougher than last week’s models and the highlights are both chunkier and a little less defined.

Even though I am slightly disappointed with my work on this particular set, I think they will blend in with the rest of the set pretty nicely and when the whole batch is done I won’t be able to tell which models came from the “disappointing” week.

For next week, Easter is a public holiday here in Ireland, so that means hopefully a little bit more painting time. I think I am going to use the extra time to get the final boss painted, spending a little bit more time on the Broodlord.

Well lookit, time is a harsh mistress, so I’d better wrap it up there and get this week’s models photographed and uploaded!

Thanks for reading this though, you are a good egg.

See you next week for the Genestealer Patriarch.
