Hi there! Hello again. Welcome back to the last week of Quarter 2 of Year 3 of Hammer the Backlog, the weekly mini painting, productivity and accountability blog. We don’t usually stretch into 14 weeks around these parts, but either some poor planning or some excellent foresight on my part gave me this last week to get everything done. Read on to see how I managed to get quarter 2 done and dusted.
SCORECARD
For the final week of the quarter, a lovely spread of green. The big win this week is the 15 Hammer the Backlog points of effort in painting up Mr. Flap Flap (aka Prince Althran Stormrider on the Griffon Sharpclaw.) All other efforts played second fiddle until he was done, then I go to work on the rest of the rocks for the quarter.

With the prince painted, rock one of quarter 2 “Island of Blood High Elves, Painted, Photographed and Online” is completely done.

With the painting finished up to an acceptable standard, that left me precious little time to get the second rock finished.
This was a much tighter affair. If you look at the plan, the original idea was to have the scenery painted by the 28th of November, then to play the game and recreate it over the next couple of weeks to make the video as cinematic as possible. With Christmas rapidly approaching this plan went out the window. I made the last 4 pieces of scenery on Saturday 14th of December and then Jim and I went into the studio to film and record the battle on the same day, the 15th.
I then spent the next three days sorting the footage, writing up a script to turn the game into a narrative, recording the voice over and editing it all together. So, the rock of having the “Wrath of Tlaxtlan Follow Up Battle Report Played, Filmed, Edited and Uploaded is achieved. I am not going to publish it just yet, that will be some time over the Christmas break when people have lots of time to enjoy it, but it is done.
THIS WEEK’S MODEL
This week’s finished model is the Prince on Griffon. I think he was the first ever three week model in the history of Hammer the Backlog, so after three weeks of talking about him I don’t really have much else to say! I’ll let the pictures do the talking! Enjoy!

QUARTER 2 REVIEW
So that’s quarter 2 in the bag! The other big project this week was getting the now traditional quarterly review video shot, edited and uploaded to Youtube. As apposed to the battle reports, which are still very much a learning experience, I am now able to knock these out in a day, including filming all the shots, filming the studio section and editing everything together.
It will be live on Youtube by the time you are reading this, please be one of the best eggs and go ahead and give it a quick watch.
With quarter 2 done, here is a little gallery of all of the finished models! A great success!

I’ve just released that I forgot to include the Dogs of War special character in the review video. My brain was obviously addled from all of those complex high elf models!
SOCIAL MEDIA
At the time of writing Hammer the Backlog has 4880 followers on Instagram, with 12 days left to go in the year. The instagram account usually gets about 10 follows a day, slightly more when High Elves, Chaos Dwarfs or Bretonnians are involved, considerably fewer when I paint 40. With the end of the High Elf Project and lots of photos coming, it’s fairly reasonable at this point to think we will hit 5,000 followers by the 31st of December 2024! Noice.
IS THERE NOTHING ELSE?
No, that’s it from me for another week. Thanks for sticking with me through the last, quite challenging quarter. See you back here in exactly a week for a whole new tray of models and some new rocks.
